Miss World Bangladesh is an annual beauty pageant that celebrates the grace, elegance, and talent of Bangladeshi women on a global stage. Established in 2016 by Omicon Entertainment, the competition has emerged as a prominent platform for showcasing Beauty With A Purpose and empowering women across the nation.
Chronological History of MWB
2016: Miss World Bangladesh was founded by Omicon Entertainment, with plans for its inaugural edition. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the event was postponed following the tragic Holy Artisan incident.
2017: The pageant made its long-awaited debut in 2017 under the auspices of Omicon Entertainment, serving as the licensee. Antar Showbiz emerged as the organizer and was tasked with executing the event according to strict terms and conditions. The competition, broadcasted by ATN, featured Lovello as the title sponsor. Jessia was crowned the winner in a gala night that showcased the top 20 semi-finalists and top 10 finalists.
2018: Building on the success of its inaugural year, Miss World Bangladesh returned in 2018 with Omicon Entertainment and Antar Showbiz JV once again managing the event. Diamond World took on the role of title sponsor, adding glamour to the proceedings. Oishee emerged as the winner, captivating audiences with her talent and grace.
2019: Xpert Events assumed the responsibility of organizing the Miss World Bangladesh competition in 2019, under the continued stewardship of Omicon Entertainment with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 4 — Education. The pageant, broadcasted by ATN, saw Torsa crowned as the winner, with the top 10 talents managed through a talent agency as per the established legal agreements.
In 2019, Omicon Entertainment, in collaboration with Antar Showbiz as the organizer, also introduced the Mr. World national contest alongside Miss World Bangladesh. Under the title sponsorship of Sajeeb Group, the inaugural edition of the competition saw Mr. Fahim emerge victorious, symbolizing charisma, talent, and poise. This collaborative effort underscored Omicon Entertainment’s commitment to diversifying its portfolio and providing a platform for excellence and empowerment in the realm of male beauty pageantry.
2020-2021: The global COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges, resulting in the postponement of the event as the Miss World Main Show faced similar disruptions. However, Omicon Entertainment remained steadfast in its commitment to the competition’s success, ensuring that all contractual obligations were met.
2022: Miss World Bangladesh opted not to hold the national contest, prioritizing the health and safety of all participants and stakeholders by avoiding large gatherings and adhering to public health guidelines. As a result, the pageant did not participate on the global stage in 2022, marking a temporary hiatus in its illustrious journey.
2023: The competition made a triumphant return in 2023 under the organization of Aristocrat Events and the Platform event management companies, with Omicon Entertainment continuing as the licensee. The event showcased the top 10 talents managed through appointing Aristocrat Events as the talent agency, as per the established legal agreements for the next three years. Nila won the national crown and represented Bangladesh in the world stage of the 71st Miss World festival held in Mumbai at Jio World Convention Centre.
2024: Scheduled for September 2024, Miss World Bangladesh is poised to make a grand comeback with its 5th season alongside Mr. World’s Bangladesh 2nd season, once again spearheading the Miss World Bangladesh organization.
Omicon Entertainment remains dedicated to its role as the licensee, ensuring that the event continues to uphold its tradition of celebrating grace, talent, and Beauty With A Purpose.
